[Lunch Review] 11/10 Thumbs Up, Boogie Woogie --- Woo Samgyeop (Beef Brisket), Nakgobsae (Octopus, Beef Tripe, and Shrimp Stew), Bean Sprout Salad, Stir-Fried Seaweed

Today's Menu: Woo Samgyeop (Beef Brisket), Nakgobsae (Octopus, Beef Tripe, and Shrimp Stew), Bean Sprout Salad, and Stir-Fried Seaweed

I stopped by the kitchen today, and let me tell you, it was a feast for the eyes!
There was delicious Woo Samgyeop (beef brisket) next to fresh Nakji (octopus).
And right next to the octopus, there was Gopchang (beef tripe).
And beside the Gopchang? More Woo Samgyeop!

When you’re surrounded by so many delicious ingredients, you just have to stack them all up!

At the bottom, we’ve got cabbage, and at the top, onions, green onions, and carrots.

Now we’re prepping the youngest member of the Nakgobsae family — the shrimp!
Peeling the shrimp takes a little time, but it’s worth it!

Does the hot pot look a little small? No worries — we’ll make it work!

A generous scoop of garlic goes into the pot,

followed by another scoop of garlic and plenty of button mushrooms.

It may look crowded, but trust me, it’s going to be amazing!

Meanwhile, the bean sprout salad is ready — fresh and savory,

and the stir-fried seaweed, tender and full of flavor, is finished as well.

After a short prayer service,

we all gather to enjoy the meal.

We start by sautéing some shrimp heads in butter as an appetizer to get things going.

Then, we finish peeling the remaining shrimp.

Once the last shrimp is prepped,

we add Chef’s special sauce, and the meal is ready!

Before we dig in, we say a prayer of thanks:

"Lord, what is this?
This is my first time having Nakgobsae at church.
I’ve tried many new dishes before,
but I’m really excited about this one.
Thank you so much!"

And there it is — all set and ready to go.

Be sure to mix the sauce well — we can’t wait too long!

We need it to start bubbling, so while we wait, let’s enjoy some crispy appetizers.

Each hot pot comes with its own helper — an angel who makes sure everything is simmering perfectly,

and serves it up generously.

Whack~

A piece of grilled beef intestine flies my way.

I’m 37 years old.
(Calculated using my own unique method.)

In all my 37 years,
this is the first time I’ve been moved by someone throwing intestines at me.

People who give delicious food are good people.

So, how does it taste?

It’s absolutely delicious!

The tender and flavorful Gopchang,

the savory Woo Samgyeop,
the chewy Nakji,
and the springy shrimp —
these four incredible ingredients all in one pot.
Once you taste it, the word "diet" just disappears from your mind.
In fact, I’ll eat the word “diet” too!

Between the sea-flavored stir-fried seaweed and

the world-famous bean sprout salad,

it’s the perfect balance to keep you refreshed and ready for more!

Chef’s special love for his "warriors" (the helpers) really shines through.

The warriors even added sausages for an extra burst of flavor!

And if you throw in some udon noodles

it’s the perfect finishing touch for those who like a heartier dish.

Calories? Let’s forget about them today.
Calories are just a unit of flavor, right?

The warriors even enjoyed some soda with the meal,
though I didn’t get a picture of that because the photographer was busy
interviewing the Nakgobsae (haha!).

Each sip of the rich, flavorful broth leaves everyone saying “Wow!”

We’re so grateful to God for guiding the chef to such culinary excellence.
Hallelujah!

Some guests are already reaching for seconds…

And of course, it’s just as delicious the second time around!
I must have heard “this is so good!” at least 200 times.
Thumbs up all around, with big smiles of approval.

Today, the Men’s Fellowship took care of the dishes and kitchen cleanup.

We’re so grateful for their hard work!

The chrysanthemums that survived the frost were shared again,

their bright smiles more beautiful than the flowers themselves.

In one corner of the kitchen, a single Day Lily bloomed.
It only blooms for one day, but the next day, another flower opens in its place.
Where does this little flower get the strength to bloom anew every day?
How is it that each day can feel like a new beginning?

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
His mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.”

— Lamentations 3:22-23

Every day, we learn from the small flower that greets the day with a fresh smile.
God pours out new grace each day, allowing us to start fresh. Hallelujah!

A big thank you to the chef, the volunteers, and everyone who helped make today’s meal special.
